Dental Hygiene & Periodontal Health (Gum Disease)
A healthy life starts with great oral health, and we’re here to provide superior oral care and guidance. An often overlooked aspect of maintaining good oral health is taking care of your gums. Research has proven that general health and gum disease are interconnected – periodontal (gum) disease is even a major contributing factor in cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Research has also amazingly shown that it’s much harder to control blood sugar (glucose) levels in people who also exhibit signs of gum disease. With so much on the line, we take gum care very seriously. We can provide periodontal cleanings and treatment or refer you to one of our recommended specialists.
Oral Cancer Screenings
With today’s technology, we’re able to spot problems quicker than before – many times even before they develop. This puts us ahead of the game and gives us the ability to prevent issues before they become permanent problems. We perform quick and painless oral cancer screenings, and we recommend getting regular screenings. It’s especially important to get these kinds of checkups if you’re a smoker or heavy drinker, as both of these habits can have a great impact on oral health.
Scaling & Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)
Unfortunately, plaque and tartar have a habit of accumulating below the gum line no matter what we do – but in some cases that buildup is worse. When the buildup is especially heavy, we will clean and smooth this area with special instruments to ensure that it’s completely spotless. This is important because the bacteria in plaque and tartar can cause the gum tissue to become inflamed and a regular cleaning is not effective in cleaning below the gum line. If you experience bleeding when brushing, it’s a good idea to have your dentist pay extra attention to this area.
